FAQ
Roof Information
-
SlimFit: SlimFit is designed to be installed on metal standing seams roofs that are at least 14.5” wide measured on center between the seams, and that are flat with no ribs or striations in the channels. Roof pitch must be less than 40 degrees. No roof penetrations or ballasts are needed.
FLEX: Flat (2 degree pitch or less) membrane roofs (TPO or EPDM). Low crickets are no problem. Installation of Flex modules on greater curves or slopes may be possible if the roof stack includes a gypsum board directly under the membrane. No roof penetrations or ballasts needed.
-
SlimFit: Yes- SlimFit can only be installed on slopes of less than 40 degrees.
FLEX: FLEX modules are intended for installation on a flat membrane roof (2 degree pitch or less), but can be installed at higher slopes if a non-combustible backer-board (gypsum) is installed directly under the membrane.

Utility companies have different rules for how much you are allowed to oversize your solar system. Some will only allow a system size equal to your last 12 months of consumption history. Check with your local utility or solar installer for details. An additional concern would be the limits of your existing electric service panel for an over-sized solar system. Your installer will be able to evaluate your home’s electrical capabilities.
-
This is currently not possible as the adhesive used is not meant for vertical applications.
-
Although the module curves up to 30%, for designs with more than one module connected in a standing seam channel, the junction box covers may be a challenge. Every roof is unique and should be looked at on a case by case basis.

Every utility territory has different rules for self-generators (homes and businesses with solar). Net Energy Metering (NEM) export compensation for excess energy produced and exported to the grid is typically reflected as monthly credits against the times you used electricity but the sun wasn’t shining (your modules were not producing). Check with your local utility for the details.

The Federal Investment Tax Credit is currently available for solar installations and can be carried forward for 10 years. Sunflare Solar cannot provide tax advice. Please consult with your CPA or tax advisor.

Please contact your local installer to obtain a turnkey proposal cost with Array modules plus the additional electrical components, labor, permitting etc. Solar modules are just one piece of the system- so it’s best to speak to an installer who can discuss all aspects of the equipment and installation.
